When The Moai Walked

ISBN : 9789568757014

The collection 'Legends of Chile for the World' gathers traditional tales of the native people of Chile, a country located on the western side of South America. This collection presents different indigenous stories with first class artists' illustrations. When the Moai Walked is a Rapanui people?s legend that presents a fabulous explanation about how the Moai ?monumental statues, typical from Rapa Nui (also known as Easter Island or Isla de Pascua)? were constructed and moved, as well as how the knowledge of their construction was lost and how some of these giant sculptures collapsed.

The illustrations were made by Daniela Montané Trincado, who earned a degree in Digital Illustration, from the DuocUC. This artist, who has also specialized in portrait paintings and landscaping, combines her talent with her labors of rescuing cultural heritage. In 2006, she donated the portraits of the first Chilean female aviators to the National Aeronautics and Space Museum.
